QUESTIONS PEOPLE ACTUALLY ASK
What is Babylon Genesis?
Babylon Genesis is a Cosmos SDK Layer 1 and the coordination layer for Babylon’s Bitcoin staking protocol. It combines BABY-staked CometBFT validators with Bitcoin-staked finality providers and uses Bitcoin timestamping to strengthen security.
What is the difference between staking BABY and staking BTC?
BABY holders delegate to a Babylon Genesis validator that participates in block production, consensus, and governance. BTC holders lock native Bitcoin through Babylon’s Bitcoin staking script and delegate voting power to a finality provider. These are separate assets, transactions, and infrastructure roles.
How do I stake BABY with Atlas?
Open the Atlas BABY staking page, connect a compatible self-custody wallet, verify Atlas-Staking and operator address bbnvaloper1uy0qkr2qts2ak9ykn29pgjfwcdd3j4ngrn3uy5, choose an amount, and approve the delegation. Keep liquid BABY available for fees.
How do I stake Bitcoin with the Atlas finality provider?
Open Babylon’s official staking application, connect a supported Bitcoin wallet, review the active staking terms, locate Atlas Staking among eligible finality providers, select the amount and duration, and approve the Bitcoin transactions. Verify the finality-provider public key before signing.
Does BTC leave the Bitcoin network when staked through Babylon?
No. Babylon’s native Bitcoin staking design locks BTC in a self-custodial Bitcoin script. It does not require wrapping, bridging, lending the asset, or transferring custody to Atlas. The lock still restricts movement according to the staking terms you approve.
What does a Babylon finality provider do?
A finality provider submits specialized finality votes for Bitcoin Supercharged Networks. Its voting power comes from delegated staked BTC. Double-signing can expose stake to protocol penalties, so operational security and correct key management matter.
How long does it take to unstake BABY?
Babylon’s BABY staking flow uses epoch processing and Bitcoin timestamping for fast unbonding. The live card shows the chain’s current base staking parameter, while the actual wallet flow may apply Babylon-specific processing. Confirm the displayed completion estimate before signing.
How long does it take to unstake BTC from Babylon?
BTC staking terms are defined in Bitcoin blocks and can change by phase or staking program. Earlier Babylon phases used a seven-day on-demand unbonding window. Always rely on the terms the Atlas app shows before you approve a new stake.
How are BABY and BTC staking rewards determined?
BABY rewards follow Babylon Genesis inflation and on-chain distribution rules after validator commission. BTC rewards can come from Babylon Genesis or participating Bitcoin Supercharged Networks under their current programs. Rates vary and are never guaranteed.
Can staked BABY or BTC be slashed?
Yes. Babylon documents slashing conditions for serious validator or finality-provider faults such as double-signing. The assets, percentages, and enforcement mechanics differ between BABY staking and Bitcoin staking. Review the current protocol documentation and transaction terms.
What should I verify before staking with Atlas?
Confirm the network, asset, Atlas operator identity, current active status, commission, wallet destination, unbonding terms, and available balance for fees. Never enter a recovery phrase on a staking website, and do not assume BABY delegation and BTC staking use the same address.
Two roles We’ll take it from there
